There has been some bad news about an oil tanker from China that has hit the Great Barrier Reef. It is leaking a lot of oil and people are worried that it is going to cause a lot of damage. The ship broke a lot of coral especially because it is very windy at the moment so the waves made it crash even more.

I met a man called Captain Dan at a place called Airlie Beach. He helps a lot of local children to do projects that help the Barrier Reef. The children have been spending a lot of time trying to clean cigarette butts off the beaches. The project was called “Keep Your Butts off our Reef!”

I have been looking at some of the photos that Captain Dan gave me. Some of the children he works with decided to have a recycled fashion show. I think their clothes are amazing and when I get back to the UK I am going to try to make all of the costumes for the play of ‘Bubble City’ from recycled materials.
